This month's HUBbub is focusing on Tri Ngo.
Our students dedicate countless hours creating new materials for the HUB. Periodically, we will highlight one of those student employees or volunteers.

Tri (pronounced: Tree) began his college career at Case Western Reserve University. During his time in Cleveland, he became interested in applied mathematics and computer science. He transferred to Northeastern University in fall 2016 as part of the College of Computer Science. He anticipates graduating in 2019 and continuing his education in Bioinformatics. Tri logged onto the student employment website in April of 2017 and found a peculiar listing for a data analyst working with the HUB of Analytics Education. Tri reflects on the first meeting with the Co-Founders and laughs about those initial interactions. “I sat down with the academic leaders for the HUB and they explained what they were trying to accomplish. It sounded really cool and I wanted to be a part of it. I had no idea what I was getting myself into at that time.”
Tri immediately began working on Tableau cases for the Introduction to Management Accounting. He proved to be a quick study and was soon teamed with another student, Chris Gomes – Data Analyst and Co-Author, to begin work on another company dataset, BA Toys, Inc. “This is where my creativity really started to kick in. We were left to develop something from nothing with little direction how to make it happen. That is the most exciting part about working for the HUB.” Tri talks about how this experience changed his views. “Working here introduced me to different facets of business logic and provided a context for using data as a way to make business decisions. This work allows me to apply my technical knowledge to develop both user-facing products (e.g., BA Toys and Bibitor, LLC) and internal tools for the HUB team to use in the future (e.g., data extractions and data cleaning).” Tri’s experience with the HUB was a focal point during interviews for an internship. Tri will start his 6-month internship with PowerAdvocate as a software developer starting in January. (BA Toys, Inc. has 20 brick and mortar locations and an online store. It is being developed for implementation into secondary education.)
