Our Mission
The HUB of Analytics Education is a 501(c)3 organization registered in Massachusetts (Sales Tax Exemption). Our mission at the HUB of Analytics Education is to provide Open Educational Resources (OER) to faculty around the globe. These resources can assist faculty interested in incorporating data analytics within their curriculum.
The OER materials include large transactional datasets with supporting information (e.g., process flowcharts and manuals) and exercises with suggested solutions. We also provide teaching notes for auditing (ACL or IDEA based activities) and management accounting exercises (Tableau based activities). We continue to add fresh material each quarter to keep the educational environment current.
How Do We Accomplish Our Mission
We are an all volunteer army of Big Data Pioneers. Our co-founders work tirelessly to improve our interactions with faculty through this website. Student and alumni volunteers create innovative ideas for new materials and new methods to create those materials. Our working partners support our efforts by providing the HUB with software licenses and other resources.
Datvironment
A Datvironment is our word to describe a set of materials related to our fictional companies (i.e., Bibitor, LLC, BCGG, Inc, and BA Toys, Inc.). The materials include the datasets, exercises, process flowcharts, and process manuals. All of these materials within the Datvironment are useful in teaching Big Data Analytics in your curriculum.
Bibitor LLC is a retail wine and spirits company, with over 75 locations within the fictional state of Lincoln. Depending on the year-end, sales can range from 420-450 million dollars and cost of goods sold can range from 300-350 million dollars.
Located in Worcester Massachusetts, BCGG, Inc. delivers fine wine and spirits to 75 plus customers located in Massachusetts, Rhode Island, Connecticut, and Maine. Sales range from 300-350 million dollars and cost goods sold range from 220-280 million dollars.
BA Toys, Inc. was created for faculty uncomfortable with discussing alcohol in a college classroom and for our burgeoning secondary education market place. Their online store is located in Harrisburg, PA and they own an operate 20 brick and mortar locations from Maryland to Maine.
